Get Past Trauma Through Talkative Therapy

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, or CBT for short, is a type of talking therapy. It is a very common treatment for a range of different mental health problems. It teaches coping mechanisms and skills for dealing with different problems. It focuses on how your thoughts, beliefs and attitudes affect your feelings and actions.

Talking Can Help.

With the right qualified therapist at Mindworks, you can work together with them to help identify any negative behaviour or thought patterns that might be manifesting in your current state of personality.

Your therapist will help you identify what is going on in your life right now and will likely also need to talk about past experiences which have affected you, in order to get to the root of the issues you are facing.

Usually CBT is seen as a short-term treatment, with a set number of sessions. However this can vary on the clinic you choose to have your sessions in, the therapist who is treating you and the reasons you may be having CBT.

We Can Help You Formulate A Plan Of Action

It can be very daunting when you are faced with a list of things and tasks, some of which you can’t do straight away. CBT can help breakdown items into manageable goals and chunks.

CBT is based on the idea that as humans the way we think about certain situations can affect the way that feel and behave towards other individuals and things life throws our way. For example, if you interpret a situation with negative thoughts, you might experience negative emotions. These emotions will then manifest and lead you to behave in a certain way. CBT is actually two types of therapy, cognitive, which examines the everyday things you think and behavioural which examines the everyday things you do.

CBT can involve activities that help to manage tasks in the form of worksheets, to-do lists and even a diary log.

You will still need to commit time aside from your other activities over the course of treatment and might need to keep up a routine after treatment and sessions have officially ended but this process should become second nature tot he point where you can integrate it into your everyday life and maximise your wellbeing.
